Off to the MTC

The day that Carson has long awaited for finally came! He entered the MTC yesterday and began his service in behalf of our Lord.  What a beautiful experience it was. There was a tangible feeling as we entered through the gates at the MTC. I could hardly believe it. I felt great and I know Carson did too. We arrived twenty minutes early, dropped him and his luggage off, gave him a hug (He gave me a package of tissues, I didn't even need them.)  and off he went. It was a beautiful sight. The spirit was so strong and Carson was beaming. I'm thrilled that he is finally a missionary. He'll be missed greatly, yet he'll be home before we know it. This morning as Lydia prayed she expressed gratitude that Carson is in the MTC and then asked that he get home safely. We then talked about many of the things that would  happen before Carson returned home.

I received a call this evening from a ward member. Her father had just called her and told that Elder Butt is one of the new Elders in his district. She said that her mother and father will take good care of my boy while he's in the MTC. It was great to hear that.

Here's to Life!

Well, I've joined Facebook.
I leave on my mission in just over three weeks.
I have more friends then I can count.
I considering falling in love with Kayla again since she's about the only girl right now who makes any sense to me.
Life is good.
Times are hard.
Camp is over and I'm finally re-finding my place in this world.
One of my best friends is getting married.
Another's puppy just passed away.
One friend is in love.
One friend is fighting.
I've been having epiphanies on a very regular basis.
She's cute.
I should hang out with him before he leaves on his mission.
What is that smell?
I should hang out with him before I leave on my mission.
I'm gonna miss this life.
You're gonna miss me when I'm gone.
I miss you.
Life is dumb.
Profound thought!
4am to 8am. Why is this the only time I can sleep?
Falling asleep fully dressed three days in a row?
Chips n' salsa.
I am Titanium!
I should spend more time with her...
I love my mom.

Yup. This is my life.
The question is- Should I?
Answer: "Just lick it."

Here's to Life!

Do I dare?

The other day I was talking to a friend when she mentioned "A few weeks ago so-and-so sent me a friend request on Facebook and yesterday so-and-so-else sent me one too. What's going on?! All my friends who have never wanted a Facebook are suddenly getting one. Next thing we know, Carson's gonna get one and the world will explode!"

Well, ladies and gentleman, I'm debating on whether or not the world ought to explode.

You see, for a long time, I thought I'd just not get a FB being that I won't be using it at all on my mission. So what's the point? Suddenly, I'm being told by church leaders and missionaries themselves that soon, missionaries world-wide will be teaching discussions and proselyting through FB, that many areas have already began and are finding enormous success, and that I ought to get one soon so I can have a large network already built up before I go into the field.

So, the question of the hour is: To Facebook, or not to Facebook? That is the question.

Well, What say ye?

To Friends!

So, life is crazy.
Shakespeare Showdown came and left and I found myself with new friends.
Scout Camp came and left and I found myself with new friends.
My mission call came and soon I'll have left, making more friends.

I'll miss my friends, more then any of them will know. Many of them, I already miss. It hurts. Of course there are some friends that, I must admit, I miss more then others. But I can honestly say that I truly miss each and every one of my friends who I will not be seeing again for a while. I love my friends.

"There's a hole in [my mouth]"

Yes everyone.. this morning I had my third and final operation on the wisest of all my teeth. An operation of execution. A wisdom-ectomy in which the entire left-side innards of my oral cavity endured a wrath of puncture wounds brought  to pass by a murder of needles. This initial attack  succeeded in it's purpose of drugging the nervous system thus placing all feeling under a coma and state of temporary paralysis. It was a long and bloody battle, the details of which I fear to unfold unto your knowledge lest you find yourself waking of a night overcome with nightmarish vision created out of a subconscious reincarnation of these things. However, I find it necessary to report to you how this story ends-
The tooth came out!
And I can still sing.

Oh yes I did!

Check out the Piano in this video

and this one

They're all the same piano.

And today...

I touched it.

I played it.

Today I played Jon Schmidt's own personal Yamaha Grand piano.
The very same one in these videos.

Oh yes I did.

I am Me!

Well, here's the answers to the last post!

1. Before I got my license, I only drove somewhere by myself once. T/F
A. True. And I only drove around the corner to pick something up from a neighbor.

2. I've never "liked" the same girl for more then 4 years. T/F
A. False. Yeah, it's an interesting story. Ages 7 to 13. And I moved to a different state when I was nine and saw her twice before I was ten. (Only one of those two times was I ale to even talk to her.) In other words, I liked her for nearly 4 years where I only saw her once and she didn't even see me. Pathetic? Perhaps.

3. I sleep with my head at the foot of my bed whenever there's a full moon on a clear night. T/F
A. True. The foot of my bed is directly under my window and when there's a full moon, if I stay awake until about 1 or 2:00am then the moon shines directly onto me. It wonderful!

4. I can do the belly roll. T/F
A. False. I can do half of a belly roll, but not an actual belly roll

5. I look better in a cowboy hat then a fedora. T/F
A. True. I guess in a way it can be considered debatable but then again, isn't everything? It all really comes down to my own opinion of myself in comparison to everyone else's and so far, Cowboy hat wins.

6. My eyes change different shades depending on what mood I'm in. T/F
A. False. My eye's change shades depending on the lighting and how it hits my eyes, and sometimes I can get them to change shades by looking at myself in the mirror and really concentrating, but overall, my mood isn't a major factor.

7. My favorite color is green because of my primary teacher when I was 4. T/F
A. True. I distinctly remember sitting next to my primary teacher, sister Wilson, in Sharing Time as a 4 year-old, and asking her what her favorite color was. She said "Green. Now you need to pay attention and listen." And ever since, my favorite color has been green.

8. I judge lyrical music based on how sentimental and meaningful the lyrics are. T/F
A. True! I love songs with lyrics especially when they hold a lot of sentimental meaning for me personally. Currently, two of my top favorite songs are The Call by Regina Spector and Somewhere Only We Know by Keane.

9. I am a Registered Piano Technician. T/F
A. False. I am a trained Piano Technician but I'm not registered yet.

10. I plan on personally designing my future wife's and my wedding rings. T/F
A. True. In fact, I've already designed them for the most part. Just a few more minor details to go.

11. I cut my own hair. T/F
A. True. 'Nuff said.

12. I like Blue Cheese. T/F
A. False! No! Never! I DESPISE Blue Cheese!

13. I've been on two dates where the girls did the asking. T/F
A. True. I have in fact been on two dates where I was asked on the date. It was kinda weird both times not being the one doing the asking but I greatly enjoyed both and I'm very glad I said yes!

14. I own a mask that can make almost any clean-shaven guys face look like a girls. T/F
A. True... unfortunately. Yes, it's quite disturbing.

15. I talk on the phone more then I email.
A. Indeed I do. In fact, I talk on the phone quite frequently... like, a lot!

Well, That's me! Or, part of me at least. If more people were to comment on something like this then I might consider doing another one.

Who Am I?

It's a good song.

Anyway, the real purpose of this post is for all of you to learn 10 random things about me that I doubt any of you already know, but here's the catch: I'm writing fifteen things about myself and you all have to figure out the five lies. Ready? Here goes!

1. Before I got my license, I only drove somewhere by myself once. T/F
2. I've never "liked" the same girl for more then 4 years. T/F
3. I sleep with my head at the foot of my bed whenever there's a full moon on a clear night. T/F
4. I can do the belly roll. T/F
5. I look better in a cowboy hat then a fedora. T/F
6. My eyes change different shades depending on what mood I'm in. T/F
7. My favorite color is green because of my primary teacher when I was 4. T/F
8. I judge lyrical music based on how sentimental and meaningful the lyrics are. T/F
9. I am a Registered Piano Technician. T/F
10. I plan on personally designing my future wife's and my wedding rings. T/F
11. I cut my own hair. T/F
12. I like Blue Cheese. T/F
13. I've been on two dates where the girls did the asking. T/F
14. I own a mask that can make almost any clean-shaven guys face look like a girls. T/F
15. I talk on the phone more then I email.

Cold

I am cold. I am rarely cold unless I have a cold. In fact, that's usually the reason I get colds. I sit in the cold because I don't feel cold. Then I get a cold and start to feel cold. And right now I have a cold.

Got it!!!

I got my LICENSE! Oh, and I made a really cool black cloak yesterday. If I ever run into a camera with it on then I'll post pictures. It's really cool. It even has a hood. If I want, I can tuck the hood inside and use it as a cape or I can leave the hood out and have it as a cloak. It makes me happy. Now all I need is to get on my parents insurance plan and I can drive places by myself while wearing my cloak. Happy day! (Even though I probably won't be wearing my cloak while driving.) Anyway, ya'll should do like I told you on the last post and comment on the first three things I should do once I can drive (aka: when I have insurance.)

A-1 and A-1

I know the commercials are dumb and all and they make it out to be so delicious that it would seem to be a sin not to savor every last drop but I must admit that A-1 steak sauce has got to be the tastiest steak sauce I've ever had. By the way, I'm done with drivers ed! Tomorrow I'm taking my road test and the next day I'm getting my license and after that I CAN DRIVE BY MYSELF!!!! Whoo-hoo! What are three things I should do during my first week with a license?

18 and A1

Well, I'm eighteen now. I'm also finally getting around to taking drivers ed. My plan is to go to A1 drivers ed every weekday over the next two and-a-half weeks and have my license by April 9th. Wish me luck!

Today (my first day) in A1 was lesson #6 "Alcohol, Drugs and Driving" *bleh* We had to watch an hour long video covering everything from people telling tragic stories about loved ones being killed by a drunk driver to humorous clips of drunks trying to say the ABC's ("A, b, c, d, e, f, g, l, m, n, o, jfk, rotflol, xyz, k." Yeah, that's how bad it was.)  to an autotopsy lab where they show the brains and livers of people who where killed the day before and the differences between the ones who drank and the ones who didn't. Needless to say, my stomach did flips that would make Jackie Chan jealous. I'm just glad that the worst came first and I won't need to go through that again.

Sterling Scholar

So, there's this huge education award done here in the state of Utah Called the Sterling Scholar award. It has 13 different educational categories and in the end, only 1 person from each category out of hundreds who try out for it from High Schools all across the state will be chosen for 1st place in that category. In other words, it's a big deal. And guess what! This year, Sarah F. made it into the finals in her category and took first place! AAAHHHHGGGG! Caiden and I went down to Salt Lake to watch the whole things and when they announced her as 1st we practically freaked out!!! And on top of that, because she got 1st, she can work at comp this year. WHOOHOO! If you can't tell, I'm ridiculously proud of her. She is one heck of a person! And this is just one of many evidences of that fact. GO SARAH! ! ! !

A Confession

I'm sorry for messing with you all, so I am going to confess-

There is this absolutely remarkable girl whom I love dearly.
Her name is Kayla Jannelle Lebaron.
She has long smooth brown hair. You know, the kind that started out bright blond until she was about 8 or 9 when it started darkening and is now a rich brown with lighter natural highlights.
She has a small cute nose. She's slender without being skinny. She isn't short but isn't tall. About 5' 6". She has a bright personality. Usually seen smiling but still able to express any emotions. She's sincere and genuine and none of it is ever an act, yet she can make an excellent actor. She is kind and caring, always going out of her way to help others but not to a fault. She doesn't give things away for the sake of giving things away or serve just to serve, but when she serves it is out of love for the person she is serving. She is a marvel when it comes to giving compliments without reserve. She is intelligent. She knows and studies in the arts, mainly in art and music and is good at them. She has a love for knowledge. She is sophisticated. Yet, she is also cultured. Cultured in our reality. She doesn't despise modern music because "it's all just bad" but is willing to see that much of it is good and can be used for good. She dances like a princess! She is spunky as I'll get out and has no problem voicing her opinion but never does so at another person's expense unless it is obviously in the name of fun. She isn't overbearing but she isn't quiet. She talks and makes herself heard when right but doesn't insist on everyone hearing everything she says without them getting a word in edgewise.
In essence, she is perfect! Yes, she has many imperfections. She has many quirks that can be annoying. She has a lot of downfalls. But to me, she is as near perfection as you can get.

Now, to any girls reading this:
These attributes that I stated are not the definition of a perfect young woman. You are all perfect in your own ways and one day you will meet a man who thinks of you in the way that think of Kayla. I honor and respect each and everyone of you more then you'll ever know and I will be so happy for each of you when you meet that certain someone and he loves you more then any other man could.

Now for the real confession:
Anyone who really knows me can tell you that I am a fairly secretive person. I do things for people that I almost never admit to having done and I rarely talk about my feelings for a person in places that they could possibly stumble upon it without knowing about those feelings before-hand. I would rather tell someone personally (in person, by letter, or by phone generally) about my feelings for them. So, why would I write all of this here on my blog where anyone could read it? Namely Kayla? Because she won't read this, and probably never will.
Why not? Because "I just haven't met [her] yet." (Sound familiar?)

Yes, that's right. Kayla Jannelle Lebaron is all in my mind. There is not a single girl on earth who I love in that kind of way, and until I return home from my mission, I don't want to meet that girl. And yet, love is a good thing and I still wish that there was a girl that I would just fall in love with. So, thus came into my life this angel named Kayla. A girl to love without loving a girl. Yes, I may just be crazy but I'm Carson. What else could you expect out of me?

So, if you were convinced that I was in love with some mystery girl, you were right... and wrong. I'm sorry if I any of you are now mad at me for deceiving you but you must understand that when you're in love, you just want to shout it out to the whole world. I just couldn't help myself. :)

Happy Valentines day!

Happy Valentines day everyone!

I hope you all enjoy this wonderful day filled with reminders that you are still single and with dreams of one day having a sweetheart of your own.
Or,
If you are no longer single,
enjoy this day with your sweetheart and don't give all of those young singles out there too hard of a time.

After all, you might make them jealous,
and we all know where that leads...

It's 6:45!!!!!!

Okay, it really isn't... that's just a cool quote. By the way, kudos to anyone who knows who first said that!

Anyway, what I really wanted to say is that my mom is pregnant... again.

Yes, my older sister did just get married two months ago.

Yes I am planning on leaving on my mission around September.

Yes I may even end up missing the birth and everything and may not get to meet my soon to be new baby sibling until it is nearly two years old.

Yes this is quite sad.

We'll see what happens.

Anyway, that's my thought for today.

These Pineapple chunks are quite tasty

You ought to have some yourself.

Anyway, on to what I wanted to talk about (or type rather...) Temples.

Did you know that going to the temple is fun?

Did you know that going to the temple every week is fun?

Did you know that going to the temple with friends is fun?

Did you know that family history is fun?

Did you know that finding the names of ancestors while doing family history who haven't been baptized and realizing that you could do their work is fun?

Did you know that taking the names of those people to the temple and being baptized for them is fun?

Did you know that visiting various different temples opposed to one and the same every time you go is fun?

Well, if you didn't, let me tell you that being a part of a group of friends with a goal to visit all of the temples in Utah before summer by going to one every Saturday until summer and that doing family history to be able to find the names of ancestors who haven't been baptized yet and taking their names to these temples every Saturday with your friends and being baptized for your ancestors who are responsible for the fact that you are even alive today on this earth is not only fun, but it becomes one of the funnest things ever!
And what's even better then that is the fact that every week we end up inviting other friends so we all meet new people every weekend.
And what's even cooler then that is the fact that a good friend who has lived in Idaho forever just moved to Alpine and I get to take her on Saturday to go with us.

Ahh! The Spirit of God, Elijah, Temples, Friendship, Love, Unity, Time all rolled together in one all day long makes for the ultimate weekend!

Oh yeah, and did I mention that we usually end up doing something together afterwards as well?

Yup, that's been my life.
